How is this different from Mac's TextEdit?
Mac's TextEdit defaults to RTF format, which can cause issues when sharing plain text files. Our online notepad creates true .txt files by default. Plus, you get autosave, word count, and other useful features.
Can I share my notes with others?
Not with a link. This notepad has no accounts, no cloud sync, and no share feature, by design. Notes live only in the browser where you typed them. To share, use the Save button to download the .txt file and send it directly, or paste the text into a sharing service like Pastebin, HackMD, or Google Docs. That also gives you a copy that survives browser data clearing.
Can I password-protect my notes?
No. Notes are stored in your browser's local storage, which has no locking mechanism, and the page has no account system to attach a password to. For genuinely sensitive notes, use an encrypted notes app (Standard Notes, Obsidian with encryption, or a password manager's secure notes), or download the .txt and encrypt it yourself with 7-Zip (AES-256) or GPG before storing it.
Does it work offline?

Can I print my notes?

How does find and replace work?
Press Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on Mac) to open the find panel. Enter the text to search and click Next to jump to each match. To replace, enter the replacement text and click Replace or Replace All.
What is word wrap?
When word wrap is enabled, long text automatically wraps at the container edge. When disabled, text extends horizontally and requires scrolling. Disable word wrap for code editing.
Why are my notes gone when I open a different browser or device?
Notes are stored in the local storage of the browser you used; they are not tied to an account or synced to the cloud. Switching browsers, using a private window, or clearing site data removes them. Use Save to download a .txt file whenever you need a permanent copy that works anywhere.
What happens if I close the tab by accident?
Autosave writes to browser storage after every change, so reopening the page restores your notes. The one exception is private/incognito windows: browsers clear their storage when the window closes, so anything typed there is lost when it closes; save a .txt file before closing if you work in private mode.
